This film deserves a rating in the 7's without question. Great performances all around and a compelling look at addiction/recovery. Michael Keaton was fantastic.

Agreed. Excellent direction by Glenn Gordon Caron and some very good performances by the cast, especially Michael Keaton who is so versatile an actor. Its just a sad story because so many people and families have to face dealing with addiction.

I didn't "expect" anything. I simply think it's worthy of a higher rating - sue me.

I dunno, it didnt really show much in a way of addiction - or recovery. I suppose the moments of Keatons after-rehab boredom rang true, but otherwise the movies rather unsteady, aimless and styleless. Good thing it doesnt get outright preachy, at least.
