there most likely would not have been any American actors. What a difference a few decades makes! Even the American films these days seem to all have British actors.

You could bet on that.
Sadly there aren't many good American actors of these generations or at leats not as sophisticated as the ones we got for that film. Now I wonder if they made another version would they go for a modern take like Cruel Intentions or they would do a Period Piece.?
Id be interested in an adult modern take with this cast.
