It is rare that I fall in love with a movie on first watch, but I loved this. Glenn and John were everything.the only one I didn't care for was Keanu (sp) but he wasn't in itmuch.
I love Cruel Intentions too so I wanted to watch DL b/c I was told it was based on the same novel. I don't think they should be compared because I think they are very different. Obviously same plot, but a totally different feel. I would buy both movies.

It's one of the few period pieces that do not bore me to death.

It is an extremely well made film with a strong cast and mesmerizing art direction. It's very far from my preferred genre, but I loved every exquisite moment of it. 8/10 stars from me.
