This movie reminds me so much of the 1999 movie Cruel Intentions. Although this movie had much more sex, seduction and manipulation with a much stronger storyline. This one will always be my favorite especially because of John Malkovich.

No she's right. Cruel Intentions is a version of Dangerous Liasions.
Clueless is a version of Emma. Think about
Cher = Emma
Mel = Mr. Woodhouse
Josh = Mr. Knightly
Tai = Harriet Smith
Dionne = Mrs. Westin
Murry = Mr. Westin
Christian = Frank Churchill
Elton = Mr. Elton
Amber = Mrs. Elton
Travis = Robert Martin.
They both unsuccessfully play Matchmaker for their friends. They both reject guys named Elton, who turn bitter towards them. They both get "decieved" by guys they think they like. They both realize they are in love with guys their fathers like and approve of.

You're joking, right? I mean, you cannot honestly expect anyone to take you seriously.

of course it is based on this story (not just this movie, but the novel).
It's like "clueless" is a modern adaptation of "Emma" from jane austen
