With very few minor tweeks, this would make a great episode of Doctor Who. If you take Lord D'Ampton and give him an interest in archeology, then Peter Capaldi's Doctor could materialize the TARDIS, and step into the Argus Flint role. Clara would take Mary's role, perhaps as a cousin of Catherine Oxenberg's Eve Trent. The plot itself would make a great DOCTOR WHO episode. The Worm itself could be an alien from the planet DIONION.

Yes, that'd work, or . . .?!
You could set the episode, not in current times, as in the film, but . . .?! In the 1860's when Bram Stoker's original novel was set. With a mysterious creature preying on the local children, who are disappearing without a trace.
