It's sad what happened to Youk.
It's what happens to most young bears. He grew up! Youk lost all his teddy bear looks. He just couldn't make the switch to adult film.
Then he got into coke real bad.
The last I heard he was living in a van down by the river.

I've wondered that, too.
Maybe they decided they didn't need to train a bunch of bears to be in movies. shrug

They would certainly have to use different cubs throughout the movie, because the bear cub gets bigger and bigger in no time at all. ^^

The names of the bears are also mixed up in some places;
Bart was 'Kaar', a Kodiak Bear and
Douce was 'Youk', the bear cub.
Still I believe Bart and Youk are the correct ones.

RIP Bart. I also would like to know what ever happened to Douce/Youk.
That little cub is propably about 22-24 years old now (in 2009). Still alive?
Bears live about 23 years as Bart did exactly.

i'm not sure about it. i thought the performance was absolutely great until i learned that they used 6 different bears for the role of the cub. so maybe youk the bear wasn't all that easy to work with.
