And then I remember this travesty.
Let's see - white guy from an upper middle class background is rewarded for completely fabricating his resume, because he must "really need the work."
Parents give young couple a hard time for owning a "small" home (with four bedrooms, 2.5 baths, in a nice neighborhood, in a suburb of Chicago, with husband making "slave wages" and wife "answering phones").
Wife is hysterical half the time, traps husband with baby, acts like a 50 year old matron instead of 22 year old newlywed.
Husband dutifully gives up all hobbies and free time, caters to her, accepts venomous inlaws, rejects best friend, because that's "what you do" to be a grown-up.
Heavy-handed caricatures of how awful unmarried people are (porn models, drunks, empty inside, etc). These kids were supposed to be in their early twenties.
And this was my favorite - Kevin Bacon doesn't want his wife to work while he's in grad school. He wants a stay at home wife while he studies Lit in college. I mean I did okay with financial aid and bartending in grad school, but supporting a second person so they can make me three kinds of fish for dinner and clean my sh*thole apartment?? WTF.
They're coming to get you, Barbara!
