Does anyone know why this movie was delayed when it first acme out? I remember seeing the trailer on a video (Ferris Beuller?) and then waiting like 3 years before noticing that it had been released with little or no fanfare. At the end of the movie they have clips from movies that were being produced and came out before this one was finally done.
Was it because of Cathryn Damon's death? Or was the studio just not comfortable with the flights of fancy (The wedding scene and lawnmower routine are great!)?
Just curious if anyone knew, I think that it's a wonderful movie IMO.

From an interview at the time, Hughes asked the notoriously slow Kate Bush for a song, and that delay caused it to miss it's original release date.

The only thing I can think of is since it was shot at the same time as Planes,Trains & Automobiles by the same director, they wanted to edit PT&A and release it first, so She's Having A Baby had to wait. Possibly there was already a 'rough' print already so they created trailers to include in other movies.

and according to IMDB, this movie is playing on a TV set in Planes,Trains & Autos before it's released

I was wondering the same exact thing. Then, even during the movie, Christy is writing a check just before she goes into labor and dates it 86, but it wasn't released until 88. Then, at the end of the movie, tons of the Bueller cast was helping with suggesting baby names and it WAS released in 86.
