In anticipation of January's hour-long Simpsons parody of The Great Gatsby, I read the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel this weekend.
With a title like "The Great Fatsby", it's safe to suspect that Homer will be Gatsby and Marge will be Daisy. However, reading the novel I felt Homer was closer the Tom Buchanan, Daisy's brute obnoxious husband.
The idea of a charming man constantly throwing wild parties just hoping a lost love will show up to me makes Gatsby more suitable to be played by someone like Krusty or Duffman.
I would have the narrator Nick Carraway played by Ned Flanders, mostly because in the book Nick prizes honesty as his prime virtue and I consider Ned to be the most honest Simpsons character. Ned would be appropriate for Nick Carraway if Homer is going to be Gatsby since Carraway kind of admires and despises Gatsby at the same time. Ned knows Homer's no angel but still thinks of him as a friend.
As for Wilson, the weak sickly man who kills Gatsby for being involved in the death of Wilson's wife (and then dies himself), I can't think of any Simpsons character more perfect than Hans Moleman.

Moe as Wilson of course. I agree that Homer should be the oafish Tom Buchanan; Bart would make more sense as Gatsby. Although they'd weirdly try to make Sherri into Daisy since they like shipping them so much lol. Maybe bring back Laura Powers, that was bart's "Daisy"? You could also do Mulhouse as Nick Caraway in that case. And Krusty as Meyer Wolfsheim for sure.

I had to read that in school. Can't remember much about it. I should probably read it again.
I'm not sure I'm going to like the episode. It centers around Hip-Hop which I am not a fan of. Though the Marge opens a boutique store plot might be fun.
