I was very young when this movie came out so I only saw it for the first time in my thirties.
I was shocked after watching this movie that Tom Cruise supported the Iraq War.
Do actors not learn anything from the movie roles they play? His character was so anti-war in the end. How could he not realize the horrors that the Iraq War would have?
Or, did he just forget given the number of years between 1989 when this movie came out and 2002/2003 when Iraq war started?

cruise supported the "war" in iraq because he knows the powers that be do whatever they want and get away with it
it was suicide for any celebrity to oppose it especially after 9/11
