Good observation, Mr. Zolom.
People who tend to criticize Leftist/liberal bias are called "conservatives". As a conservative, I love America, Israel, liberty, guns, representative democracy and Western Civilization.
But why am I bothering to type this when in another two weeks this website will do away with the discussion board? Given that the entertainment industry is Leftist-dominated and Leftists abhor free speech (especially speech critical of the Left) then it makes sense that they would get rid of this board.
In fact, I'm surprised that in the many years I've been posting here that I haven't been suspended or banned altogether.

Anyone ever notice that everyone who brings up "liberal bias" has the same avatar of a flag or sometimes an automatic weapon? It's like they make you people in factories.

Why do you Leftists constantly engage in projection of your own insecurities and blameworthiness?

There is a lot more that goes into Hollywood liberal bias than the personal views of the director. Directors know which way the wind blows in Hollywood, and behave accordingly. The left makes a specialty of cheap shots at those who disagree with them. They are too cowardly to confront the arguments head on, and instead they make their bias known in subtle ways such as giving right-leaning views to characters who are otherwise contemptible, or having otherwise positive characters make snide remarks and jokes about Republicans (think of how often this happens on sit-coms). This is how the left has subtly extended its sway over the public with the help of the entertainment industry over many decades.

I dunno. I think people put too much stock into things like that. It could be a character device, something to give us a little more insight on the character. Is Dr. Love a douche? Yes. But, I personally (and I ride neither left or right) didn't see it as a dig on Bush Sr. Maybe it was though. Only the director knows.

Well all I got to say about that is, long live leftists! There's plenty of Teds and Georges out thereso keeping a balance is what we should strive for. It's just a shame that "leftist" propaganda such as this wasn't enough to have kept GB-1 from being elected in the first place.

Correct. It was meant as a snide remark, just as I stated. What am I going to do about it? Point it out on a movie discussion board, just as I have.

When Ted leaves the hospital roughly half-way through the movie, we get a close-up of his rear bumper and the "Elect George Bush" bumper sticker.
Anybody who knows anything about movies and making movies knows that if it appears on the screen (and not on the cutting-room floor)then it is for a reason, and this scene gets quite a few seconds of screen-time.
It is a foregone conclusion that well over half of everybody working in the entertainment industry are Left-leaning, and while this is not a complaint (not here, anyway) it is just one more example of Leftist bias in Hollywood.
Aside from this, I enjoy this movie for the nostalgia factor, having graduated high school (like, in The Valley, ya know) in 1983.

It's bias against people who deserve to die slow, painful deaths because of their desire to hurt people who are already hurting, in order to benefit greedy people whose wealth should be confiscated from them. What is wrong with that?

We might consider it a slam at the conservative GOPs today, and it probably was meant as one in 1988, but it is a rather weak one. Yes, Ted might sympathize with Bush as a rich GOP, but Bush Sr. was actually more of a centrist. Which Ted probably didn't know either.
It's a quick cheap joke.
