For another Civil War movie, you should try to find Pharaoh's Army. Not well known, but is an absolute gem. Very authentically portrayed, all the way down to the clothes the actors wear.

Flags of our Fathers was great and true to history. Empire of the Sun was another great film, but I'm a little suspicious of some of the history. Most of it seems realistic to me, but the transformation of the Japanese fighter base into a kamikaze base seems a little convenient. It was good for dramatic development, but I question if anything like it really happened.
The best diplomat I know is a fully charged phaser bank.
