Did anyone laugh at the part with Sean Connery's umbrella & the seagulls?

Misattributed
"Let my armies be the rocks and the trees and the birds in the sky."
Widely credited to Charlemagne on the Web, though no source has been found earlier than the 1989 film
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Yes. It was funny. Also I didn't realize he was quoting a person. I thought Sharlemayne was a word for poem which I thought he himself wrote. I heard it as, "I just remembered my Sharlemayne."
"1-800 Spank me? I know that number." Scott Calvin, The Santa Clause.

I love the scene and Connery's delivery is perfect. Notice after flapping his umbrella how he rests it over his shoulder like he's just taking a stroll.
"He's dusted, busted and disgusted, but he's ok"

I thought it was more touching than funny. I liked Indy's reaction when he realizes that his dad, who he seems to view as weak and inept, just saved his life since he had no more bullets in his gun. He's figured out that there's more to his father than meets the eye.
I doubt most people who saw this movie know who Charlemagne was though but I love that quote.
"Let my armies be the rocks and the trees and the birds in the sky."
