in TLM, you have horrible messages for little girls - Ariel wants to give up her true self for a man, and her waist is only a tad bit wider than her arm!
I think animation historians will be kinder to 'All Dogs Go to Heaven ' than 'The Little Mermaid'

Yeah, agreed. And besides, I knew plenty of girls from high school who had a similar body type to Ariel (heck, any of the Disney Princesses), so Ariel's design if anything is pretty realistic. You want unrealistic body proportions? Look at Gretchen Grundler from Recess.
And yeah, I also agree with that second point, the "true-beauty" message that's being pushed recently IS crap, especially when we've already had people snookered into thinking that a guy who was hideous must have had true beauty within. That guy's name is Sartre. Just look him up, and read about all the awful acts he did to women.

Fully agreed on both fronts. Not to mention, the Disney princess shape is actually pretty realistic (heck, I know a few High School girls who had that body shape). Maybe if the TC complained about Gretchen Grundler's body shape being unrealistic, I'd actually believe it.

I think Stratego answered the first part well enough and I'm tired of defending Ariel all the time anyways. The Little Mermaid is still and will always be an all time Disney great.
As for All Dogs go to Heaven, while it has it's issues, I think there's more good than bad. It's often considered the last "good" Don Bluth film and I still enjoy it to this day. I don't think it will ever have TLM status though, it's already a heavily forgotten film.

Not really, he was given life, and eventually desired to become an actual human being.
And either way, that doesn't change that Ariel's desire is as much part of the transsexuality agenda as Kirk Lazarus undergoing that pigmentation surgery so he could adopt the role of Staff Sergeant Lincoln Osiris in Tropic Thunder was part of the same (ie, not at all part of it, not even CLOSE to being part of that agenda). In order for Ariel to truly push the transsexual agenda, she would specifically want to not just become human, but become a human male and even dress in guy clothing despite being female. And that's not going to pull off in ANY movie, let alone a Disney film (heck, the first Matrix movie originally planned for Switch to be a girl in the matrix and a guy in real life, but it ultimately got cut largely because people would not have been receptive to that idea, even though it was rated R).

No, what it's closest to is that guy in Tropic Thunder getting that surgery to allow him to play the role of Sergeant Osiris.
And besides, are you going to call Pinocchio a transsexual? He changed his body entirely as well, so by your logic, he's a transsexual as well, and like Ariel, he also wanted that, being born in another body.

Not this again
First of all, Ariel didn't even intend to change her gender, just her race, so no, it's NOT transsexual at all, any more than Beast trying to regain his humanity in Beauty and the Beast is transsexual. At most, you can call it trans-racial. Second of all, considering the backlash Frozen got when it was even assumed to be a gay movie, do you REALLY think Disney would have even subtly attempted to push transgender agendas even back then?

And no, it doesn't teach girls about giving up their "true self" for a man at all. It teaches about GAINING your true self (which for Ariel was being human, in case you missed the beginning of the movie)
And no, it doesn't teach girls about giving up their "true self" for a man at all. It teaches about GAINING your true self (which for Ariel was being human, in case you missed the beginning of the movie) and parents having to let go of their children so they can lead their own lives.
And really, All Dogs Go To Heaven is such a crap movie. Bad script, ugly animation, boring characters and horrible songs.
