The novelty about Jake wore off on her after he said that, but it didn't nor should it matter. Jake could probably care less because he was there for Lynn. He was kind of stalkery, but that's a whole different matter altogether

I've never thought she was looking at him from that point of view, but rather she found him fascinating or interesting, livening up the evening a little bit with his entrance/presence.
She was in a room with with three rather stuffy and dull looking guys, undoubtedly her usual set, while here was this casually dressed ball player with some charisma about him.
It was more indicative of the limited and dull circle she moved in and probably the same reason why his ex was still attracted to him.
