I'm almost sure it was, but IMDb lacks the (TV) mark next to the title (or, even more accurate, "mini").

Yes it was made for TV, to celebrate the bicentennial in 1989.
Two parts.
I don't know on which channel it was shown though. I'd be interested to know what were the TV ratings for the original showing of the two episodes
