I watched this movie for Meryl Streep. I had never heard of the original She Devil book (which I now learn, could be quite interesting) nor of Roseanne Barr (who, I hear, is a famous comedian). My understanding was that the name "she devil" applies to Meryl Streep's character, who is some ice cold bitch stealing the husband of a simple housewife. But instead, Streep was this rather simple minded and helpless woman. She still did a great job playing this character, but I think the movie somewhat under-utilized Streep's acting powers. Her role in Death Becomes Her (1992) was closer to my liking.
