Mary confronting Sylvia or at least asking her why she did what she did (leaving her on a doorstep).
Perhaps as follows: -
(As seen in film)
Sylvia: u are a SELFISH BASTARD!
Peter: Selfish?! Well I Didnt leave my baby on a doorstep when she was six months old!!
(ADDED)
Mary sees him say this at the top of the stairs, and runs up hurt
Peter sees her and gives a regretful sigh
Sylvia slaps him
Sylvia goes up to console Mary and talk with her
Peter hears from the door and leaves bowing his head
Jack leaves the same time to go to his movie filming and says goodbye
Michael says goodbye by himself and Peter simply waves, having said goodbye to Mary after Jack's bedroom talk with Mary.

I always loved that he threw that doorstep thing in her face. Clearly she's become a good, caring mother, but what a beep up thing to do! He was totally right!

That's really good, and would've added a lot to the movie.
