This is one interesting little detail that is easily overlooked. That text at the bottom of the screen when you're looking from the robot's POV? It actually is different in every scene to reflect the current situation.
In every scene it seems to be the robot's CPU being supplied with additional information on either itself or the subject it's thinking/looking at while the big center text reflects the CPU's thought process.
Anyway skipping all that, In the scene where you're looking through Mr. Bryle's POV the text is repeating, along with some other information, "Critical System Error, Advise Shut-down."
So guess is that although he was still able to function after being hit by the school bus, his CPU got all scrambled and messed up.
