Okay this movie is not the greatest but I used to love it as a kid.
Now watching it as an adult something did really stand out, it appeared to be filmed entirely on location, with some great wideangle shots of Navy bases giving a lot of scope for very little cash. & The end sequences filmed in Spain look great, the ruined house etc doubling for the Lebanon.
It remains a great piece of entertainment.

Before I saw the end credits mentioning Spain, I was thinking they must have used some earthquake hit area of Mexico.

They really BUILT a ruined LEBANON in some Spanish town.
If that's what they did then that's impressive. The end battle scenes look like they were filmed in a real warzone. Nowadays that would be a CGI set.
Buckle up back there, we're going into hyperactive

And THIS was BEFORE CGI and all that computer effects stuff. They really BUILT a ruined LEBANON in some Spanish town. It was AWESOME!!!!!! When the boats were coming up to the shore and you could see the city lights with all the fires and incoming shells lighting up the place . talk about GREAT production design!!!!!
Dr. Kila Marr was right. Kill the Crystalline Entity.
