Well, this movie was filmed 6 years after the first one, but the events are supposed to be taking place relatively soon after those in the first movie, so having the original actors who played Atrayeu, Bastian, and the Childlike Empress reprise their roles wouldn't have made much sense as they would have been too old by this point to really capture the parts again.
Oh so film them back to back or just have the kids grow and a year has gone by.

Well I actually don't think it's supposed to take place soon after the first. I dunno about the book but the movie was supposed to take place quite a few years later. I mean Bastain was about 10 or so in the first one and in the second he is clearly a teenager.
That would explain why Bastain looks so much differnt and older!
Well it sucked they didnt use the orginal actors.

in the book, it takes place right after, bastien never leaves fantasia.
it should be a remake then or reboot and follow the books.

Well Barrett Oliver disappeared Noah Hathaway quit acting and then has come back.
I think the Child Like Empress is still in the biz I wish they made it back to back or just never made there age a issue
