Just watched this movie and it made me think of EVE'S BAYOU a bit. Set in Louisiana in the 60s, it's about a young girl losing her innocence in a small town. It's got a similar main character using magic (voodoo) to explain adult things a young person can't understand yet. It's not as creepy as The Reflecting Skin, but it's very well-done.

This film immediately reminded me of:
In a Glass Cage (1986)
Paperhouse (1988)
Very atmospheric, and disturbing/unsettling at times.
"That was the second album I ever bought!"
