Using a highly "scientific" rating system, I rated all the episodes of "Eerie" out of 10. I found out that "The Lost Hour" is the best episode, with a rating of 9.6/10; and I found out that "America's Scariest Home Videos" was the worst with a rating of 5.3/10. The episodes with the best acting were "Reality Takes a Holiday", "Zombies in PJ's" and "Broken Record." The highest emotional resonance in an episode was "The Dead Letter" and the funniest episodes were "No Brain, No Pain" and "Foreverware." Any comments? Post 'em. Let me know your faves.

Since there are only 12 episodes, it is hard to pick a definitive favorite, but here is a list of the ones I like the most.
my favorites:

Heart on a chain-an incredibly moving episode that showed that Eerie Indiana wasn't afraid to be dramatic when it needed to.

Broken Record-Powerful episode, which is a good retort to people who want to blame rock music on their children's maladjustment.

Foreverware- This episode is just funny. Classic. Tupperware beds. LOL!

Reality takes a vacation- Very smart and well-written episode that breaks the 4th wall in the funniest way. Plus, is it just me, or does Wes Craven's New Nightmare owe some to this? I mean, this came out in 1991, 3 whole years before New Nightmare.

Marshall's Theory of Believability- great episode with a nice twist. Good spoof of UFO mania.
6)The lost hour-Co-starring a really young Nikki Cox! Marshal tries to do daylight savings time, and winds up an hour behind everybody. Very imaginative.
Least Favorites:
1)Just say no to funyeah, I know the whole spoof of classical conditioning(the school is even called B.F. Skinner Middleschool), But I just thought the ending was too goofy.
2)The Dead Lettertoo sentimental for my tastes. Plus, I thought a lot of the scenes were stupid.

My fave ep would have to be 'Heart on a Chain'
I have never forgotten it and I'm pretty sure it was the First 'show' that ever made me cry. I have to stipulate 'show' because I have always cried in 'The Neverending Story when Atreyu's horse Artax dies in the swamp
This Episode also shaped me as a child. I took on Devons(?) attitude for the duration of my adolescence and it was the first time I'd heard the quote 'Live fast, Die young and leave a good looking corpse'. A phrase which would be much repeated, from my own lips.
I still believe that love is one of the only things that can outlive death. Great Ep. I'm currenty downloading the whole season now, starting with this episode.

Scariest Home Videos went for more humor and chose to be different and not to make a scary Halloween story, although it was a great opportunity. I cant say I dislike it, I liked Boris von Orloff (Tony Jay)
Broken record's not really my favorite, it was more about parental abuse than anything else. I felt sorry for Todd in that one.
Marshall's Theory was about a phony Professor coming to Eerie who specialized in the supernatural. Marshall and Simon wanted to see him badly and show him their evidence, but Marshall's dad was suspicious of him.
They eventually talked to him about the Bigfoot footprint they found or something like that .Have you noticed that Bigfoot is even shown in the opening credits but here's no actual Bigfoot episode?
In the end it turns out the professor was trying to fool everyone with a fake alien ship, but the one Marshall and Simon see is actually a REAL one and they take a photo of it, but it's not clear.
"The Losers" and "Just Say No Fun" could've been better, they're not bad but had more potential.
I wish they had done two-part episodes, that would've been interesting, although we sort of got that after Dash X came along, the episodes were loosely connected.
I've changed my opinion on Dash X episodes after seeing them again, they're actually pretty good and can stand up against the early episodes.

My favorite is "Broken Record" for much the same reason that one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes is "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street." Weirdness was contained to the show, message was not.
I also like "The Lost Hour," "Reality Takes a Holiday," and "Foreverware." I openly don't like "America's Scariest Home Videos" and I actually can't remember "Marshall's Theory of Believability" and I own the show on DVD.
The emotional episodes are somewhere in the middle for me. I like them more than most things on television, they just aren't my favorite episodes of the show.

I'm not a huge fan of later Dash X episodes, except Reality Takes a Holiday, I thought they were more silly than eerie, but I still like them.
My favorites are The Lost Hour, Heart On a Chain, Reality Takes a Holiday The Dead Letter and Who's Who, for some reason. But there's no episode of Eerie I disliked, maybe just Marshall's Theory of believability would fall close to that.

I just did this weird thing where I watched each episode of the series and then rated it on a seven-category scale. The categories were Story Writing, Character Writing, Acting, Quintessence, Originality, Weirdness and Guests. (The last can be interpreted as "casting".) I'm currently doing the same thing for the original Twilight Zone. Each episode was given a rating in each category in increments of .5 from zero to 10, and an average was made at the end. The following is the ranking of each episode, and I think you'll be both surprised and angry because I rated certain episodes that were the most famous lower than you would have liked, and certain ones that not many liked higher. But this is my list, and I'm sticking to it.
1: The Lost Hour
2: No Brain, No Pain
3: Zombies in PJs
4: Foreverware
5: The Losers
6: The Dead Letter
7: The Hole in the Head Gang
8: Just Say No Fun
9: The Loyal Order of Corn
10: Tornado Days
11: Reality Takes a Holiday
12: Marshall's Theory of Believability
13: Mr. Chaney
14: Broken Record
15: Heart on a Chain
16: The Retainer
17: Who's Who
18: ATM With a Heart of Gold
19: America's Scariest Home Videos
As always, comments appreciated. Feel free to vent- I'm looking forward to it.
However I love all episodes and the entire show and really wish it had more seasons, when I found out it was on DVD I had to buy it! p.s. I did voice over work for a couple episodes and I was the witch (or whatever she was) girl's voice in Scariest Home Videos when Marshall and Simon are fighting outside the house, but I really do love the episode for it's plot.
