A couple kills in the beginning, and that was it. This one felt much more light-hearted than the second one and definitely more so than the first. Almost as if they were aiming it more towards entire families.

It’s a kids film, like Robocop 3.
I hated it when they made PG sequels to R-rated originals.

I had the same feeling too. Like the film just upped the camp with very little tension. Definitely more comedy than horror.
So many stories, so little time.

I agree. The beginning of the movie where the kids were tossing the frisbee was so light hearted

MMM, only two people die in the first film as well. And it's about as bloody as the first as well.

I felt like this one was definitely geared toward families more than the first two. The plot was all about Annie trying to keep her family together, after all. Only two people died in this one TWO! And what a coincidence, they were both "bad" guys. None of the good guys died in this one. The kills were pretty bloodless too.
Cena doesn't overcome any odds. He's a wrestler with a God Mode cheat on.

I'd say it's about as light as the second. The Frank kill is more intense than anything in 2, actually. It's not as gory as the bloody skeleton in 2, but the way it's shot and some surprisingly good acting make it kinda brutal for Critters flick.
