I have always thought that Doc looks like an older version of Kincaid. They have the same shaped head, and very similar facial features.

Kind of. On my VHS tapes, there's an ad for the boxed set and they show clips from all the movies. There's one of Doc and until I looked at the background I couldn't tell if it was him or Kincaid.

This was the first Elm Street film I saw in theaters and I was 11 or 12 and yes, I too thought it was Kincaid.

First time I saw this I thought it was the same character. Like Kincaid had somehow survived and become a doctor lol.
