I had this movie in VHS and rewatched -between male friends only, because every girl in my life hated this kind of macho/buddy movies- until the tape got screwed years later got the DVD until I lend it to a friend who disappeared.
Lot of years ago, before this movie got released, I saw on TV an interview with the director and actors, showing the making off. From time to time I remember how cool the characters, dialog, man partnership and the action sequences were.
I'm leaving this message because for wildly chance, just last night got the chance to see this movie again, and I was as pleased and entertained as the first time I saw it. In this movie you have some of the last action heroes of our lifetime. Obviously, this movie won't please everybody, mainly because is oriented/recommended only to real, old school men.

I remember seeing the preview for this at the cinemas, but i never got to see it for reasons unknown.. Now years have passed and i stumbled upon it by mere chance. I thought it was awesome, never a dull moment. I was also surprised to see on how it was not cheesy as i was expecting it to be. Luckily i ignored the rating of 5.6/10 and gave it my own of 7/10.

I remember recording this movie a few months ago. Watched it, and like an idiot, deleted it. Waited 6 months for it to come on again. But its staying on for good
I love this movie. The only thing that I dont really like is the acting from Tom Sizemore in a few scenes, but I think the rest of the movie makes up for it.

And your comment has to do with what exactly? This movie is a classic, and and deserves it's cult status 10 times over.

They simply don't make'em like this anymore. Two top leading men that were cool as hell. These guys today couldn't match their charisma of one of their dumps. My senior year in high school was '92 and after watching it again tonight on encore I forgot how I had most of the lines memerized.

Great movie indeed! This is the kind of movie only a "man's man" can appreciate. Everyone else are movie reviewers who write negative reviews for newspapers, websites and magazines - people who cannot relate to the characters in this movie in any way.
It's a buddy movie, a heist movie, and action-adventure, and a comedy all wrapped in one package. Not one of these characteristics outweigh the other at any given time during the film.
As I've said, only a Man's man can fully appreciate this movie. Everyone else either hates it, or just thinks it's cheesy. Most women I know think of it as "Well, it's just another one of those silly guy movies." It's far deeper than that
It's very subtle, but there are undertones and messages about friendship, loyalty and obligation, particularly to a guy's fellow male friends. Case in point: There is a scene in the movie where Harley and Marlboro escape the bad guys and get on a train (hobo style). They have the money and they disabled the tracking device that enables the "suits" to find then wherever they are. For all intents and purposes, the movie could have ended right there! They have the money, their lives, and no way for the bad guys to find them. But out of Friendship, Loyalty and Obligation, Marlboro decides to turn back and have a final battle with the suits. Harley is a bit more reluctent at this point, until Marlboro recites the first commandment of the Macho Guy Philosophy: "It's better to be dead and cool, than alive and uncool." A quotation Harley said himself near the beginning of the film.
The showdown takes place in an airplane graveyard, a setting I always found unusual until I read here on imdb where someone said they thought it was a metaphor for Harley and Marlboro themselves. Like the planes, HD and MM were the last of a dying breed. I'd like to think that was the case, that would certainly explain the setting.
But all does not end well. They never accomplished what they set out to do (save the bar) and Marlboro didnt get the girl (what guy cant relate to that?!). This is a great movie. I dont mean in a "trashy" or "low budget" kind of way. It's a great movie period! It deserved far more respect than it got.

I own this film and enjoy it very much. Mickey and Don are great as the title duo and have great chemistry. The opening with Rourke riding his bike to the beat of Bon Jovi is a perfect musical complement.

I loved this flick ever since I saw it 10+ years ago.
Now, I don't like "trashy" movies of any kind. You know the type, cheapo, uninspired, poorly written formula pics they air on TBS or USA network at 2AM, and that is the group that I always hear people lumping HDatMM into. They couldn't possibly be further off-base.
This movie is an homage to every great western and action flick ever made. Its like a love letter to a certain breed of American cinema. It does for the drifter-hero genre what Jackie Brown did for Blaxploitation movies. If you're not keen on those kinds of movies, then this one will not be to your taste. However, taken in the way the filmakers intended, this is a damn good picture. It's reasonably well made, has a great cast of actors who all perform admirably, and features clever dialog that surpasses Tarantino's at times.
Compared to flicks like "The Wild Bunch" or "Gone With the Wind" Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man might come up a little short. But hold it up to something like the Lethal Weapon series, and I can't see how so many people could call it a lump of $hit.

The first time I saw this movie, I'd say late 90's, I loved it and I didn't quite understand why. Now, My knowledge of movies has grown and this movie has become a milestone in my life as it was one of the movies that made me become a fanatic. My best friend and I use quotes from this movie all the time, and none of our other friends understand. We don't recommended this movie to them either, cause they wouldn't understand. But I do, as does my best friend. This movie was a blast.

So it isn't hard hitting or Sundance-award winning, but it engages the audience in a free spirited, far too short fling of fun!
And should you have me choose between an honestly GOOD Sundance baby (truly, how many are there?) and a fun movie, like this one, I would have no problem singling out the latter for "rewatchability".
Sure, I'll give "critic's choice" movies money once, maybe twice when they're in theaters (if they are good), but a fun movie I will h~e~a~v~i~l~y support, round up all my friends and drag them to, then buy and have a party with!
Sundance movies make you say, that looked nice, or he's a great director, etc. etc.
But fun movies, they make you happy. They make you laugh and really feel like you aren't spending your free time engaged in an unpaid extra job as an "art" critic, but enjoying yourself.
And how many times can you truly look at a motion picture and say, it's not trying to IMPRESS me, but ENTERTAIN me (nowadays)?
This is not a movie where you have to get caught up in subtleties, or take a pill to be able to stomach the "reality" or the "pioneering" camera work, but you can just let yourself relax, and be taken on a ride, an enjoyable, carefree ride with Harley and Marlboro!

I saw that movie when in was first released in the movies , I was around 15 years old then and I liked it quite a bit. Havent watched it since then , but I think I will still like it if I do. Nevertheless I think it worths your time if youre into action

its a old school classic action movie, with equal amount of action,drama, and comedy.
plus if you notice, theres this underlying message about corporate greed taking over the old ways of american mens values. such as harley davdisons, Marlboros, Jim Beams, Jack Daniels, and all the other character names.
