What an odd film. Hilariously 90s in every sense (a pre-fall/comeback Mickey Rourke, a thin and villainous Tom Sizemore, appearances by the most underrated Baldwin (Daniel) and Tia Carrere [who is obviously and accidentally smiling during the scene where Johnson shoots Sizemores phone], with songs by Bon Jovi and Vanessa Williams), Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man is a mishmash of genres, including action, heist-thriller, buddy comedy, sci-fi, and the subtlest presence of existentialism. While not all of it works, theres no denying its a breezy and entertaining 98 minutes. Tonally very similar to another 90s cult classic (and another Shout! Factory release), Dark Angel aka I Come in Peace (starring Dolph Lundgren), Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man is pure popcorn-fare stupidity. Its big, loud, obnoxious, bloody, violent, and happy to be spectacle.
