First off, I'd just like to say that Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man is a great movie. But I was watching Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid this morning, and I realised that there were a lot of parts similar in Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man:

First of all, both Marlboro man and Sundance kid have moustaches, and are both great with guns.

The scene where Butch Cassidy takes Etta Rose for a ride on the bike kinda reminds me of when Harley took Marlboro's girlfriend out for breakfast.

The highrise jump into the pool and the jump off the cliff.

When the bad guys hunting Butch and Cassidy first appear in the movie, Butch says, "Whatever they're selling I don't want any" In Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man, Harley says "Whatever they've got to say I don't want to hear it."
There are probably more similarities too. I know they're only small things, but I can't help but wonder, was Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man roughly inspired by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?

I noticed many similarities too and I don't think it was a coincidence. Harley is the counterpart to Butch and Marlboro is the same to Sundance.

How about that Butch's gang was the "hole in the wall gang" and The "gang" that Marlboro and Harley went to at Granddad's bar were actually behind a "hole" in a wall.

Isn't this openly a remake? I thought it was when it opened. It's what we'd now call a "reimagining."

Another similarity: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid are relentlessly pursued by professional gunmen, who seemingly can't be shaken no matter what Butch and Sundance do. Similar setup here, where HD and MM are pursued by the Men in Kevlar.
Another similarity: In "Butch Cassidy/Sundance Kid," Butch uses a large charge of dynamite to blow open the safe in the train car. In this movie, they blow open the armored car with a large charge of explosives. Only difference, of course, is there was no cash inside. lol

Thread resurrect time!
These might not be exact quotes as I'm saying them off the top of my head:
HD&MM: "I know how to hotwire a bike. Don't tell me how to hotwire a godd**n bike."
BC&SK: "I know how to rob a bank. Don't tell me how to rob a bank."

Another similar line is when they're in Vegas Marlboro says that he hates the town and Harley says Marlboro doesn't know anything about Vegas, then Marlboro informs him that he was born there. I think the line in Butch and Sundance is about New Jersey, but it's virtually the same. - D

Also Marlboro says to Harley soemthing like 'You keep thinking, Harley. That's what you're good at.'
Sundance has a similar line in that movie.

You're right about the similarities though.
