I don't get it
POS movies like Pretty Woman and Hope Floats were big hits.Only The Lonely was flawed but made me laugh more and was much better compared to alot of other romanic comedies.

Don't even get me started on how awful Hope Floats is. I cringe at the thought of that film.
I wonder if this one didn't do as well because it wasn't goofy like most of Candy's other movies and that is what people were accustomed to? Not sure, but that's the only thing I can think of offhand.
Dick, I am VERY disappointed.

I didn't know that the movie bombed.
Likely because it respects the sensibilities of its audience, has an intelligent and honest screenplay, explores the complexity of human relationships, and isn't a mindless crowd-please.

Absolutely agree. This should have been released around Thanksgiving time.

I think releasing it in May was a bad move. Just look at the atmosphere and everything. It seemed more like a fall or winter release.

No wonder you didn't laugh at
Pretty Woman
though, because it wasn't a comedy, just a straight-up romance.

I don't get it either, it wasn't a great movie but was still a decent with some charming, poignant and funny moments. I loved the chemistry between Candy and O'Hara as well as Candy and Belushi who were priceless in their scenes together. Also Anthony Quinn was charming as the greek gardener.
