I love "Tears in Heaven" because it's an extraordinarily sad song about Clapton's grief over the horrifying death of his son, Conor.
But when I heard it in this movie, I was disappointed with the way it was used. We only hear the song for like a minute or so, and then that's it. It's only used briefly during a montage when Jennifer Jason Leigh's character is jogging on the beach.
Even director Lili Fini Zanuck admitted in the interview below that she wasn't sure if the song would work in the movie:
"It was so painfully personal, so obviously about the son that he'd lost [Would you know my name, if I saw you in heaven?]. I wondered if it would work in the movie."
Her fears proved correct. The song does not work in this movie.

It did for me. But that song never made me cry anyway but it was played at just the right moment in the film.
