I really like the movie and even I did not for once believe it was the 70's. The movie is so clearly set in the 90's and the 90's setting works just fine. Why insist on using the 70's dates? So what if it's based on a true case. If they didn't mind changing the ending what made them think it'd be a crime to change the era as well.

Wrong - they did a great job of giving it a '70s feel.

Were you even alive or in your late teens in the 70's? Because it won't work in the 90's as I was a cop in the 90's AND alive in the 70's. Patric and Jennifer were incredible and made this an stunning film.

The technology used in even the 90's was more advanced than the 70's. In today's films you can't see a film without it having cell phones, computers, et.al. A film's time frame is one of its characters. This film would not have been the same set in the 1990's.

Well everything you mentioned. It all has the early 90's alternative vibe.

I thought it did seem like the 70s. The clothes, the language, the music. What made you think differently?
