I was shocked as HECK. I didn't know about it when I first saw the movie, and I'm a hetero woman, I thought Dill was pretty, then I saw that scene and WOW!!.

I'll never forget that scene as long as I live lol. I thought it was a woman and all of a sudden this huge PENIS drops out as they're having you know what. Oh God! I almost threw up! I'll never forget that scene. This was one weird movie lol.

Plus the name's pretty ambiguous. Before watching it this time, I still wasn't sure whether Jaye was a transgendered actor or a man.

As a girl I was pretty amazed that she was a he when I first saw her I thought that she was attractive too, But you know, Jay Davidson who plays as the Dil is actually very attrative he has efeminate features in his face so it is hard to tell what his sex is in the different roles that he plays in. Like when he played in the 1994 movie Stargate that was the first time that I saw him I could not tell that he was a guy. He is truely unique when came to his acting and the way that he looks.

Ya i just watched this moments ago without knowing the big twist.
I found Dil attractive too. And I remember when it got to the "the scene" where we see the camera panning down from Dil's face, my line of thought was pretty much this:
"ooh here comes the sex scene; mm pretty face and ok.. she's very very flat chested.Oh my god!"
I actually felt sick like Fergus was.
To be fair, most transexuals have some kind of obvious masculine feature that gives them away and Dil just didn't have any of those.

Who says Dil was transgendered? I don't remember that being said in the movie. I personally found him quite attractive at first, I definitely did when I saw it as a kid, but this time I just kept noticing the jaw and the stubble. As soon as he had his hair cut and put on the cricket top though, it was over.

But the character is transgendered, and 'she' is strikingly beautiful, especially the hair. In some ways the camera angles sometimes give her a slightly more masculine look, but the voice is very female and the dubbed singing adds to the whole image of course. I wonder what Jaye's singing voice was like.
