I knew the twist of this movie but still enjoy watching it.some films are worth though you know that reason for which the movie is famous for

I saw the film last night and you have to been living under a rock not to know about the twist.
I thought the film on the whole was enjoyable - some aspects were stupid - Forest Whittakers character was too far out of shape to have been in the army - maybe he let himself go! The chances that the 2 IRA members would survive the bombing was implausible too
Dil I probably would have guessed was a man early on - the voice was too masculine mainly. Its possible I was actually looking for flaws looking for the clues that she was a he. The soundtrack specially When A Man Loves A Woman came across as heavy handed knowing the twist. I dont think it pulls off the man as a woman thing as good as M Butterfly - in that film there seemed to be a genuine love from the man's perspective. In The Crying Game you get the feeling Fergus is almost with Dil out of guilt associated with Jodys death. Of course the 2 films are radically different apart from the twist, in M Butterfly the guy
is duped ends up in prison and kills himself in shame
and the girl
in M is doing it as a spy whereas Dil just seems to want acceptance
I found M Butterfly more plausible that the guy would fall in love and would be utterly messed up by the revelation. In the Crying Game it was likeerm okay you're a man
The Crying Game was good but M Butterfly has the edge - both films have the twist but dont rely on it and both reveal that twist much earlier than the end. TCG ends quite weakly whereas MB ends in a suitably tacky operatic way and is actually a twist on the Madame Butterfly story. M Butterfly has a better emotional journey
