<p dir="auto">It played at a repertory house here, and I remember everybody in the theater gasped when Dil dropped her robe. I even thought for an instant that they'd made a fake penis for her, then I realized it was real. Shock.<br />
I still think of Jaye Davidson as a woman, the actor was so convincing.</p>

<p dir="auto">Some people picked up right away what Dil's situation was.I was not one of them. When I first saw this movie during it's original release, I was just drop-jawed when that scene happened. I had been successfully tricked!<br />
Upon subsequent viewings, I wonder..how is it that I didn't catch that? But, like any good magician's trick, it's all about creating plausible diversions.<br />
The bad news is you have houseguests. There is no good news.</p>
