I see the point he was making. I can not disagree with his principles. He believes in a chain of command. He believes in the Marines. That this is what the stand for as he sees it means therefore he believes it. As such he will defend it with his life.

That you killed him through following orders doesn't change that, it just means the people who gave you the orders have dishonoured themselves in the same way.
