i adore this movie. i adore steve martin. i adore goldie hawn. its in my top ten of all time films, purely for pleasure-viewing.
god, gwen kills me in this movie! "all of this represents a compromise!" and the bull she comes up with!
on an interesting note, the part where shes in the kitchen dancing around when newton finds her, shes singing that song, "katie, katie bo-batie, bananabana fo-fatie, fe-fi-fo fatie, me-mi-mo-matie, katie! OH ollie! ollie, ollie"
katie and ollie are goldie's children in real life, kate and oliver hudson. i always though it was super cute.
The more we take the less we become.

The part where she is in the kitchen singing with her kids names is one of my favorite scenes for that reason. Back in 1992, I had yet to know who her kids were, so when I first saw this movie, I never made the connection, and thought the scene was just OK. Years later, when I saw this on cable, l had heard of Kate and Oliver Hudson and knew they were Goldie's children. So, I liked this scene.

I was disappointed by it but it does have John Cleese in it!
I stick with Housesitter because to quote you mujipor,"it's like a dream come true" for me too.
If you're looking for a great movie that takes place in a small town try
Mischief(1985) which stars Doug McKeon,Catherine Mary Stewart,Chris Nash and Kelly Preston. It takes place in a small town in Ohio.Everyone that sees this film loves itincluding me.
