Allowing for the premise as presented, clearly you can't stay with her, with him inside. But he couldn't stay with him, with her inside. Its like one of those logic puzzles like you go back in time, and shoot your father when hes a boy. Do you then disappear?
I'm thankful I was never presented with this problem. Although I've been in relationships, that over time, seemed like another person took over. Maybe that was the kernel that got the writer started.
