I highly doubt it. With green screen and CGI technology heavily used by 2003 they probably shot the reaction scenes separately and for the static frontal shot stitched in Theo's head (adjusting for scale) superimposed over Connie's body. I sure would have loved to be on THAT closed set!

I'm still curious about the logistics of filming such a scene. Was Austin Majors actually onset with a naked Charlotte Ross?
If so,

Me too. I can't put my finger on it but Sylvia/Andy were a good fit together. Andy/Connie was a little haphazard. It seems like Milch or whoever felt that Andy needed a love interest, and instead of creating a separate character they just mashed him up with Connie. Of course creating a separate character is another actress you have to pay, but that's just an excuse really.
I did feel a bit of remorse when his ex-wife Katey left the show. I liked that storyline a lot more, it seemed a bit more believable than Andy/Connie and two exes getting back together carries its own level of unbelievability because it's so extremely rare.

Ouch. Now there is a painful memory. I actually never had any trouble with the Sylvia/Andy relationshipI could always buy that there was something there that attracted Sylvia to Andy. But I could never buy Andy/Connie. That was one relationship that would never happen in a million years.

Diane was my least favorite character. I have no problem believing she was a drunk. However, to me she looked like a spun-to-the-hubs coke fiend. I have known three gals very similar, who tried to hang with the boys, perhaps not realizing they had half the body weight so they were doing double the dose. After about 6 months they are pretty much clinically insane. Diane just so reminded me of these three gals. Its a kind of over-stimulation combined with being dopey and out of touch. It was like she was vibrating inside. I have known many alcoholics who used coke or crank so they could drink more, its a very sad pathology.
That Bochco was a known and an admitted coke-head not only reinforces my thinking Diane was the party girl, but explains why he took her to a new show, so he could have an enabling co-dependent to hang around between episodes. And I doubt that it was some silly contract clause that she did not come back to NYPD Blue, it was because everyone was fed up with Bochco and I assume, her. I wouldn't be surprised if Andy and Smits did a little drugs or booze, but it sure seems like they took their jobs seriously. Heck, Smits asked to be written out after Bochco was so spun he would turn in a script a day before shooting.
What really confirmed my suspicion that Diane was a coke fiend was this affectation she did on-camera. She would wipe her nose with her ring finger, while covering her nose with her first two figures. It looks like a move by someone trying to hide those little white rings around the nostrils. Yeah, coke, I assume to keep her functioning past the booze.
And sure, this is all pure theory and hearsay for all I know Diane is a Morman that never did a drop or a snort.

Re why Delaney was fired from CSI: Miami, the only reason I've read was due to a lack of chemistry between her and David Caruso. Must've been bad since she was fired only a few episodes into the first season.

I didn't know she lost all those jobs from drinking.
She didn't.
fujiwan08 doesn't know what he's talking about.
NYPD Blue was a Bochco show.
And Philly was a Bochco show. After working with Delaney on NYPD Blue, Bochco wanted Delaney for Philly.
So she wasn't fired off NYPD Blue. She was hired for Bochco's new show, Philly.
Delaney wasn't fired from Philly. Philly was not renewed after a full season of 22 episodes because of low ratings.
This is what the NYPD Blue FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) list has to say:
Why did Kim Delaney leave the show?
When Kim Delaney left NYPD Blue after the eighth season to star in Philly a series specifically created for her by Steven Bochco, who felt that Blue couldn't showcase her talents enough it was with the agreement that Kim could return to Blue if the new show was canceled quickly.
It later turned out that Kim's contract defined "quickly" as "in 13 episodes or less." Since Philly essentially ran for a full season, Bochco was no longer bound by that agreement. According to Bochco, he realized that Diane no longer fit in with the other characters and decided not to bring Kim back, at which point she took a job as David Caruso's partner on CSI: Miami. According to Kim, the CSI offer came very shortly after Philly was canceled, and that she didn't have a chance to discuss a Blue return with Bochco.

I can't begin to remember all of the times that she showed up at Simone's apartment and put her forehead on his chest and started whining about her problem-of-the-week. He must have REALLY loved her to keep putting up with her crap. There was not a lot of her working on cases. Sometimes, the most she ever said that was pertinent to the job was, "I'm Detective Russell. This is my partner Jill Kirkendall." The whole storyline with her family was aggravating to say the least. Come on; an adult man called Dougie? Too many magazines? Hardly the stuff to spin an episode from.
I did like her on All My Children.

I feel the same. It may have been the writing. They really did give the women (and Medavoy and Martinez too) the 2nd string stories that didn't require much depth (imho). I find myself fast-forwarding to the Andy-and-Bobby (or whoever his partner was) scenes when I'm watching a recorded episode. Maybe I'm sexist, but I thought all of the women on 'Blue' (with the exception of Amy Brenneman) were more hired for their looks than acting chops. (Don't get me wrong, Amy's beautiful and, I thought she was a very good actress). But Delaney, with the 'Diane's family' storylines and SOME scenes with Smits, showed signs of brilliance, but it didn't last. With me anyway.
