It is hard to believe anybody like Detective Andy Sipowicz would ever end up with anyone like Detective Connie McDonald.
He is not good looking. He is always in a bad mood. He is fat, balding, uneducated, uncultured, unsophisticated, and it has never been shown that he even knows how to have fun.
I guess that is one component of fictional entertainment fantasy.
