Just a hypothetical considering he's been off TV for a long time, would you like to see Dennis Franz make a return to TV? If so, what show/role would it be?
If he's to return as a cop, I'd like to see him make a cameo on SVU, a show I enjoy from time to time. What role, I'm not sure, but I'd like to see a 2-episode arc with him. I'd guess having him play a former/retired cop would be predictable. Either way, have him get killed in the end, just to rip out hearts out.
If not as a cop, I wonder if he's got some comedy chops to him. I would prefer he not show up as a guest star on Mark-Paul Gossellaar's new show for whatever it is. Also, wouldn't mind seeing him have a guest star role on The Americans, one of my faves.

I would love to see him guest star on Blue Bloods as the retired police commissioner that Frank Reagan replaced.
I would love that! I could see him being a private investigator because he just couldn't be retired totally. Danny and him clashing would be epic!

I'd love to see Mr. Dennis Franz back on TV in any capacity! I thought he showed a great flair for comedy as Andy Sipowicz. At least he made me laugh! His sardonic cracks to witnesses and criminals always broke me up. He'd be great on a sitcom like The Big Bang Theory as one of the character's grandfather , a retired cop. He'd scare the heck out of them!
However it's all wishful thinking. From what I've read, he's firmly committed to retirement.

Drama, so he can show off his sarcasm. SVU would be good as a full time gig. He can put back that wee bit of humor that left when Belzer left. He did say he would come back if the part was right.
