How this is not in the top 250 TV shows is beyond me. And how it's not in the top tier of the top 250 is stunning, as well. I took a look through that list, and there are some shows in there that just make no sense to me. I'm not talking about ones that I just didn't care for, as I didn't care for the genre, but I mean shows that I, nor the critics, didn't think were very good, at all.
Again, I'm completely stunned. NYPD is an absolute classic that changed the face of dramatic TV. It was brilliantly written, directed and acted. It was a game changer. I just don't get it.
Even the critics regard it as one of the best TV shows ever. It won numerous awards. I'm stymied.
I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream has gone from me.

Yep. Been watching it on Audience for months now. I'm glad they are doing so, and showing it in HD, as well.
I hope they do eventually pick up that other channel, as well. I guess it all depends on how popular it gets. I wouldn't mind seeing a lot of older shows.

Hey Gabe, we just got Direct tv installed last week and the channel "Audience" is airing it in order. Started recording it since Amazon Prime dropped it. Didn't know if you knew they had it on that channel or not. It would be nice if they picked up that channel you two are discussing. I love old school cop dramas.

Hopefully, if it becomes popular enough, DirecTV will pick it up. I would love to see some of those old shows, especially HSB.

There are some great shows on now/recent past. But Blue still holds up, which makes it even better. Too bad you don't get cable. They actually came out with a great network called Heroes/H&I. They have all the old cop dramas on it.

Right. The ratings by IMDB reviewers. I know that as time goes on the higher ratings for the great, older shows are replaced by the mediocre garbage playing today because many of the younger people have never seen the older shows. All they have to pick from is what's on recently. When there is absolute junk, lesser junk, and okay shows, they tend to pick okay shows, and because of what they are gauged against, they think they are great. So, actually, it shouldn't, and really doesn't, surprise me that the ratings for a great, older show aren't that good. I guess if you are starving and given nothing but a saltine, like it said in a film, it's going to be the greatest thing you've ever eaten, yet in reality, it's just a regular, old cracker.
I'm not saying that there aren't great shows today. There are still some real gems out there every now and again. Overall, though, the TV landscape has catered toward the non thinking audience as of recent. It's sad.
Hill Street Blues is another great one. I grew up watching that and, due to not being able to stream because of my lack of anything other than satellite internet because of my location, I have to resort to waiting and hoping for someone on DirecTV to show it. I could always buy the DVDs.

Are you talking about the IMDB poll? I don't go by the reviews of IMDB, much less put any weight in any of the polls. If you bring it up on Google it ranks plenty among other polls. Personally it is the best ever in my opinion. Hill Street is in the top ten.

Most Bochco and Kelly productions should be in the top 250; sans
"Cop Rock"
which I never gave a chance! Looked lame from what I read about it!
