Season 2 (generally good)
Season 1 (hit or miss)

Tier one- Seasons 2-4 (The prime of the series, but I don't know how I would order these three)
Tier two- Seasons 1, 5-6 (Season 5 maybe being the best of these three, but all these seasons are still excellent for different reasons)
Tier three- Season 8 (a season that both changes the show's dynamic and returns to early form, underrated by many because of a lack of Mulder)
Tier four- Seasons 7, 9, and 10 (there's bright spots in each, but they're far removed from the best of the show)
