First off, why did they need to make an entire scene where he's explaining that he was 17 when he got Danny's mother pregnant? This would only be needed if the two actors playing father / son looked similar in age to each other. The guy playing the father looked like he could have been 50, and the son could have passed for 16, so there was no need for this scene.
Plus, another scene where they reveal that he weight 185 pounds! Where, on the Moon? Try about 250 pounds, because this guy looked really out of shape. Both the scene about his age, and the scene about his weight, made me chuckle a bit. Again, only if a young actor was playing this part would any of this have made sense. These lines just made this actor look really bad for his age! His pink polo shirt and khakis didn't help either!

Yeah, there was no need for that nonsensical backstory.
Also they were in a big rush to get somewhere so that the dad wouldn't screw up his new job and then they decide to just stick around this town for a few days, this latest town was a big story but where were they going to do in the first place

Lol! Your post made me LMAO! So true. I'd watch this movie as a kid and never gave that scene any thought, but now seeing it again,it's so pointless! Why did they even bother?
