<p dir="auto">Thank you, thank, thank you!<br />
I read these posts with suggestions about remakes with dismay.  Jack Nicholson?  Not a comic at all.<br />
The truly great talents like Matthau and Lemmon were so versatile. GOM was a comedy and I love it for its sheer comedic talent and the opportunity to watch masters of their craft in their twilight years.<br />
Watch Charade for Walter's bad man portrayal (he was great and makes a great baddie), and Days of Wine and Roses and Mr Roberts for Jack Lemmon's super range. Burgess Meredith was wonderful in Rocky and superb in this.<br />
No senseless remakes please!</p>

<p dir="auto">I think who I'm choosing more closely resembles Jack but could easily play Walter's part. I'm picking John Mahoney. They're quite a bit apart in age, but if Mahoney is Lemmon, I want Chris Cooper for Matthau.<br />
