I can't even imagine how much better this movie wouod have been with Tupac in. It's already one of my top 5 favorite movies, but it would probably over take Training Day as my favorite in Pac was in it.

Tupac was never up for the role of Caine or O'dawg. I don't know why everyone thinks that. Tupac was chosen to play Shareef but had conflict with the directors as he did not agree that Shareef being muslim would actually hang out with thugs. It to him was unrealistic and a direct contradiction. I personally believe that with the caliber of actor Tupac was, he would have outshone the star of the movie (Tyrin Turner). It turns out, imo Larenz Tate's O'dawg ended up doing that anyway. No disrespect to Tyrin Turner's
skill as he was great also. Tupac's participation would've been stellar.

You're a dumb ass. I bet you love Tupac soo much that you would rank Gigli in your top 5 if Tupac was to play Affleck's part. Or if Tupac played Gyllenhaal's role in Brokeback Mountain you would go around acting gay and making out with guys.ohh nevermind you probably do that already. _________ ..
Lets be clear
The biggest misnomer is that me and Tupac got into any fight. It was me and 12 Crips that he got to jump me. He didnt do beep Allen claims. Tupac didnt lay a hand on me. I had my hands on him. But there was not a physical fight between me and Tupac. It was a physical fight between me and 12 gangbangers. I believe they are called the Rolling 40s and they rolled me up pretty good. He adds: Tupac was an artist. Tupac was not a gangbanger. Tupac could not fight to save his beep life. I know that for a fact. He was an immensely gifted person and he was far, far, from a thug."
-Allen Hughes
Tupac was an immensely talented performer, activist and film star. He fashioned plays and re-enacted Shakespeare plays and acted out characters in different ways. The whole gang thing is somewhat legend that was largely crafted from his own immaturity, misinformation and terrible decision making and people that enabled his bad side. He came out of prison a changed man, but joined Death Row while doing it, and thats when his fate was sealed. Death Row was infested with provacateurs, police operatives and employed a Cointelpro fashioned intelligence unit that killed him, and ended the Crip-Blood truce that Pac attempted to develop. .. he is missed in hip-hop to this day.

Plus, if Pac plays O-Dog, it's basically a rehash of Bishop in Juice. Pac was too famous by then to play Sharif. His presence would have distracted from the story. Sharif was not a very large role. The guy who plays Sharif is a good actor, though. He plays the OG that takes Doughboy's ball in the childhood segment of Boyz N The Hood. He's convincing in both roles.

I totally agree with cold-fusion. Im a HUGE Tupac fan but I can't watch movies he's in because he will always be Tupac when I see him. Em was okay in 8mile because he was basically playing himself. Other than that I don't like movies with singers in them.

Sharif's character was a reformed knucklehead anyway, but some of the most notorious and brutal gangsters were members of the Nation of Islam.

There was an interview where Tupac said he was supposed to play Sharif, but he refused to because he didn't believe a Muslim "gangster" was believable. He either wanted them to change the character or play O-Dog, but the Hughes brothers refused. They tried to fire him w/o telling him to his face because they felt he would cause problems and disrupt the set, so he confronted them about it, they got into a fist fight, and they ended up suing him for the altercation.

The real shame is they fired him because of working with Singletonwhat kind of hater beep is that? I don't know the whole story or if that is true, but if it is, no wonder he kicked that dudes ass..
