This film is a classic because it makes you laugh, think about life, feel melancholy, and have hope all at different points in the film. I thought the cinematography during Janet's poetry scenes were very well done. They didn't seem like a cliche dream sequence or a music video they were just raw. The moments of her going through her feelings of loneliness, sadness and trying to hide it all behind a smile in that mirror were so authentic. I think Janet brought a lot of herself to that scene in particular. I enjoy this film like I'm watching it for the first time every year or two.
