This movie is at least a 9. Almost everyone loves this movie. Its one of the best kids movies ever. Everyone has had an experience like The Sandlot. Whether it be playing wall ball at recess, or a pickup football game. This movie just intensified that moment.

I think a 7.8 is a very fine rating. It's such a fun, nostalgic movie that really brings back childhood memories of playing outdoors with your friends. I love everything about this movie.
But a 9 to me is a masterpiece of cinema. And I don't see The Sandlot in that category as movies like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, or Lawrence of Arabia.
So many stories, so little time.

The movie itself isn't that good. It relies too much on nostalgia. The acting and writing are mediocre. If it was rated based on the actual quality of the film, it would be much lower.

You almost never see any movie over a 8.0 on imdb, even the greatest movies ever made. I would also rate it a 9 or 10, so would most people in our generation, but the average will never get up there, one 1 requires 9 10's to balance it out, and there are plenty of kids on here who give every movie they ever click on a 1 just for the heck of it.
