I was nine years old when this movie came out. My mom and I went together one afternoon. In the original version that played in the theater, we both distinctly remember that the vomit scene was significantly more disgusting and lasted an EXTREMELY longer period of time than shown in any other version we've seen (either on TV or DVD).
We both vividly remember this because it went on so long that we were both starting to get queasy and the scene lasted long enough for both of us to comment to one another about how 'extreme' this scene was.
Does anyone else recall seeing this originally in the theater and remember the extreme length of this scene??? I can understand why it's cut when it is shown on television, but does anyone know why it appears to be shortened in the DVD version?
Good times, and it's a (strange) memory that I still share with my mom!

Watched in theater as a kid, just watched on DVD. I was like, well that scene was not nearly as gross as I remembered. Must be because it was edited.

I am 17, and first saw that movie when I was 7, and still watch in on HBO when it's on. I recently watched it the other night, and still can't look at the vomit scene. I always know when to look away, because I know when they begin to vomit. But the scene is no more than 15 seconds when I count in my head. It always ends quickly (The whole carnival sequence in general).
btw, what was that ride they were on? When I first saw it 11 years ago I thought it was one of those "sleigh ride" carnival rides but seeing it again it's definitaly NOT, lolz. It was a disc that spun around and went up and down, and it was called the "Trabant" or something.

I have an old VHS I recorded of the scene back when the movie made its first HBO run back in like 1994/1995 and a VERY recent DVD version of the movie. The DVD version shows - as stated before - around 6-7 seconds of actual vomiting. The VHS actually shows almost everyone on the team puking, including a second shot of Ham puking where the people behind him are dodging chunks. This scene is MUCH longer (like 18 seconds). It may simply be that over the years the distributors just simply removed the scenes.
