Did anyone notice that the man (with his wife) who axel cut infront of to get on the spider ride was george lucas? Axel goes onto this ride while evading the security guards, who then cause the ride to break. If it wasn't lucas then it was his identical twin. Did anyone else notice this?

John Landis likes to put directors in his films for fun.
It's all in this: http://collider.com/the-collider-interview-john-landis-part-ii/

Just watched this yesterday for the first time in over a decade and noticed several cameos. Spotted Bob Sherman and George Lucas, then checked the cast and noticed some other familiar names (Ray Harryhausen surprised me).
Fun stuff.

George Lucas needed the money, I don't think he made much from Indiana jones and Star wars trilogy and doing post production on Jurassic park

It was Lucas. Landis used many directors in cameos in this film, as he does with others.

Director John Landis is famous for casting other film directors in his films, such as An American Werewolf in London, Spies Like Us, Coming To America, Innocent Blood, and Oscar just to name a few.
