It's right in the middle for me, and kind of liked it, kind of not. I liked the sexual harassment aspects of the movie and felt there was an interesting story there, which takes up most of the first two thirds, with some cyber plot elements involving computers in the background. But then in the last third, the movie does take a turn and turn into a full cyber espionage type thriller, with virtual reality technology even.
I feel that maybe the movie was suffering from an identity crisis and probably would have been better if it stuck to just being a sexual harassment law suit drama perhaps. But what do you think?

Definitely.
I saw this turkey in the movie theatre, and it was clunky even then.

Michael Crichton is usually great at writing science fiction elements into his stories, but the problem with this movie or any older movie involving computer technology is how dated it has become. Hollywood 90s cyber plots don't hold up well.

looking at CGI files, through those goggle things. Did they actually have that in 1994 to look through computer files?
I would need to give this another watch. Can't picture them off the top of my mind.
Tell you what…When I send my ex-wife her money…you can lick the stamps.

Yeah but they have the whole scene with the CGI Michael Douglas looking at CGI files, through those goggle things. Did they actually have that in 1994 to look through computer files?
It feels like the movie goes from being a drama about sexual harassment, but then wants to be Tron.

I think the cyber espionage was part of their profession. So…at some point, the plot has to incorporate scenes from their place of employment, and them working together at their place of employment and the sexual harassment effected their work performance and the work politics surrounding all that and so forth.
If it were made today, the movie would be twice as long just to teel the story adequately.
You know eventually I need to watch that movie again. Thanks for mentioning it.
